This article gives you four quick steps to clear the trouble light on your DSC alarm.

The trouble light on your DSC alarm was designed to turn on when the system detects trouble. The trouble could be a shorted-out wire or a low sensor battery.

Before we start, your keypad may look like one of the three keypads in the picture below. The following guide still applies, no matter which keypad you have.

Instructions to Clear the Trouble Light on Your DSC Alarm:

Although you don't have to do the steps in order, we suggest you silence the beeping first so you can troubleshoot without all of the noise.

  • Press # to silence keypad beeping.
  • Press * followed by 2 on your keypad.
  • Reference the trouble condition index below to identify the problem.
  • Enter * followed by 3 to check your system's memory.

DSC Trouble Condition Index

  1. Service is required Press 1 on the keypad to reveal more information. Contact your dealer for assistance.
  2. A/C Loss – If your building or neighborhood has lost electrical power, the system will continue to operate on the batter for several hours.
  3. Telephone Line Fault – The system has detected that your phone line is disconnected.
  4. Failure to Communicate – The system tried to communicate with the monitoring station but failed. This may be due to Trouble 3.
  5. Sensor or Zone Fault – The system is experiencing difficulties with one or more sensors on your system. Press 5 to show the zone.
  6. Sensor or Zone Tamper – The system has detected a tamper condition with one or more sensors on your alarm. Press 6 to show the zone.
  7. Sensor or Zone Low Battery – This trouble indicates one of your wireless zones has a low battery or your system's backup battery is low. Press 7 to view the zone(s).
  8. Loss of Time and Date – If complete power was lost (AC and Battery), the time and date will have to be re-programmed.

Check Your System's Memory for Alarms

Alarms in memory also cause the trouble light to come on. Check for this by entering * followed by 3 at your keypad. The system will display the most recent alarm. You can clear alarms from memory by resetting the alarm.
